We had the unexpected joy of distributing hundreds of vegetable and herb plants to the community when Tim’s ACE Hardware donated their end-of-season surplus – plants that otherwise would have been dumped. One of their employees occasionally comes to our library, and she picked up some of our seedlings to plant in her garden this year. Then, when ACE was trying to find an alternative to dumping their leftover plants, they thought of us! I was so glad we could be a part of interrupting the waste stream and channel these plants to people who can use them. There were so many, we had to make a couple trips to haul them all to the library!
Garden work continued through August, and highlights included a bountiful garlic harvest and digging some lovely little blue potatoes.
