As the temperature dropped outside, we stayed inside and cozy today with our holiday party! Everyone came dressed as a fruit, veggie, or flower of their choice -- we had a blue orchid, a watermelon, a blueberry, and two blackberries. The costume-wearers exercized their abstract creativity, wearing clothes with colors that reflected their subject. What fun! Wearing various shades of brown, I was the garden in winter (other guesses from the Chillis included a bean and a rotten apple. Hm...).
We started out our party by signing a letter to our community:

Dear Chillicothe,
The Green Chillis club grew these lovely beans in our library garden this summer, hoping for an abundant harvest that we could share with the community.
The seeds we planted were donated by the Seed Savers Exchange, through the Herman’s Garden seed donation program.
We welcome you to take a packet of seeds (one per family, please), plant them, save the seeds you grow, and share them with others.
With warm wishes for the holidays and a bountiful new year,
The Green Chillis
This letter and our homemade origami seed packets, filled with beans, are now displayed at the front desk. Feel free to come in and pick up a packet!
We also played the first ever game of "Garden Bean-O," a variation of Bingo, using personalized cards featuring plants and wildlife we encountered this summer.

We also made suet treats for the birds...
...and decorated gingerbread treats for ourselves!
