Later in April, the Green Chillis braved the soggy, blustery weather to do a bit of weeding in the garden. They also looked through our seeds and picked some varieties they would like to grow this year, and everyone signed a thank-you note to Tom Geiger of Geiger True Value, who generously provided all our estimated potting soil needs for this season! This gift will allow us to refill the large pots on the patio as well as give away many of the seedlings we have raised to the community. Stephanie Farris at Picket Fence also continued her generous support by donating a bunch of small pots for transplants and a bag of carrot seeds. Toby Peters (of Peters Landscape) will be bringing by a load of mulch for the garden. So thankful for our giving community!
By the end of April, our new raised beds were set up, though we had to wait on the proper connectors to make it all shipshape. We sheet mulched the new beds to smother weeds and grass.
I took off for the month of May to do some planting on the other side of the world, so Gail managed the library garden project during that time, putting her ninja garden skills to good use!
